How to Order Parts

Step 1: Order the desired "semi-kit," described below.

Step 2: Order the remaining parts by cutting and pasting my supplied parts list into the Mouser Electronics on-line ordering form. (For other suppliers, you'll have to look up the part numbers yourself.) Click HERE for detailed instructions.

Step 3: If you bought kit 2, then order two free samples of the required MAX497 integrated circuits from the Maxim Semiconductor website. These ICs are expensive (about $12/each and available in quantity only), but Maxim has agreed to supply two freebies to multicontroller builders. See FAQs 4 and 5 to learn how to order your free ICs.

My original multicontroller is on the bottom, and above it is the latest "production" version, using a custom silkscreened cabinet.

Note added 4/16/04: I found out that Waldom/Molex will soon discontinue a four-pin connector used in the circuit. To be on the safe side, I bought a few hundred and will supply one with each kit order.
Which Kit Should I Order?

Kit 1: *** No longer available ***

Kit 2: If you're from the USA and want to duplicate my multicontroller exactly, you should order Kit 2, This kit contains the four blank printed circuit boards, a silkscreened and prepunched enclosure, and a few other specialty parts.

Kit 3: Same as Kit 2, except includes two MAX497CPE integrated circuits. This kit is primarily for overseas builders who may have difficulty obtaining the free samples of these ICs. However, builders in the USA can also order this kit if they are willing to pay extra in order to start building right away.

Circuit Board and Part Descriptions (not sold individually)
Main Circuit Board
 Double-sided 7.045" x 6.550" circuit board, FR-4 fiberglass, tinned & plated traces, thru-plated holes, and integral ground planes. Boards have green solder masks, white silk-screened component legends and milled edges. These are very high quality circuit boards.
Front Panel Circuit Board
 Same as above, except 6.563 x 3.000 inches
Rear Panel Circuit Board
 Same as above, except 5.438 x 2.938 inches
AM/VLF Filter Circuit Board
 Same as above, except 4.000 x 1.125 inches
Enclosure
Custom enclosure (manufactured by Buckeye Shapeform) with extruded aluminum top and side panels and heavy gauge punched and silkscreened front and rear panels. Includes black front bezel, mounting feet and hardware. Dimensions in inches are 7.50W x 3.75H x 8.50D.
Monlithic Amplifier
Mini-Circuits GALI-6 monolithic integrated amplifer, with 12dB power gain, DC-4 GHz frequency response and 3rd intercept point (IP3) of +30 dbm
